[ Whatever had possessed her to join this group of crazed superheroes, Carol was entirely unsure. Apparently she had been really into it before she had gotten her brain chicken fried, but since she woke up in a hospital bed with a crowd of unfamiliar faces around her it had seemed a whole lot more like starting high school (strange how she could not remember the name of her high school, or what it was like, but she had a very definite understanding of what high school was like). First there was the flurry of names to learn, and, worse, all of these people had two names she had to memorize (at least her own was pretty damn awesome, if she did say so herself). Then there were the history lessons, battles and power sets and villains she had to somehow cram into her newly reformatted harddrive space. She had flashcards full of the stuff. Honest to god flashcards.

And here she had thought being a superhero was supposed to be cool.

Then the Great Daddy Avengers in all their wisdom had stuck her on a dumb mission in a dumb desert babysitting some dumb equipment transfer that was so boring she had actually been rereading her flashcards just to keep from going crazy.

Luckily, it turned out that the mission Star Spangled and Iron Butt had thought was going to be such a piece of cake turned out to be a pie full of blackbirds. For a good fifteen minutes, things had blown up, shots were fired, and she got to punch things.

It was awesome.

Not so awesome was waking up in the sticky hot sand and realizing that there was nothing but said sand save for a black and white splotch she was pretty sure was her Avengers babysitter (Bobbi Morse. Mockingbird. Spy. Yes.). She groaned, rolling over to her hands and knees and crawling that direction, intending to give her a good poke. ]
