you can't spell "alone" without "leon" ([personal profile] discard) wrote in [community profile] realpolitik 2015-12-13 08:15 am (UTC)

[It's harder when he meets Stahn's eyes.

Meeting Stahn's eyes when they're so pleading, pleading for something... well, it's not like Leon doesn't know what he's looking for. He's not good at emotions, but he's not oblivious either. There's something here that goes beyond the feelings he has for the rest of the party, and while he doesn't know what that means, he does know that Stahn's... looking to see if he does feel the same. He's looking for some sort of...acceptance, perhaps, without pushing it on Leon, and Leon...

Slowly, shakily, he breathes out, and he doesn't look away. No, in this he refuses to look away. Stahn is trying to give him the space he needs without actually pulling away, and it's that that really convinces Leon--

This is... not a bad thing. This sort of thing...he may still be frightened of it, and he may still not know how to deal with it, but that doesn't make it bad. If it's Stahn, only if it's Stahn, then... it's okay, isn't it? Because Stahn is everything that's straightforward in the world. Stahn doesn't have ulterior motives. Stahn wants to help people, and look out for his friends, and be there for...for everyone.

But also for him.

And Leon swallows, but he can't look away, even as his expression solidifies into something just a little more certain. He doesn't know what will happen in the future. Perhaps in the end this will go terribly, and Stahn won't actually uphold his end of the deal. Perhaps if he needs him, Stahn won't be there.

He'll accept that, then, as his due for accepting this. Now it's his responsibility, because even as his expression grows more determined and focused, he knows he's in too deep to back away from this now. So he doesn't pull away, forehead still practically pressed to Stahn's, hands still linked as they are, and... well, he doesn't have the words for this either, but he'll clear his throat and he'll try.]

I...understand. [He thinks he does, now. He thinks he gets it, finally. It took time, but... he understands now.] This is...

[... Don't leave him.]

I'll accept the consequences of my actions.

[Alternatively, he could really just say I LIKE YOU TOO STAHN but apparently that's not going to happen so this is the second best option. He'll accept the consequences of him deciding to continue holding Stahn's hands in the end. He made that choice. It is his choice.]
