you can't spell "alone" without "leon" ([personal profile] discard) wrote in [community profile] realpolitik 2015-12-23 04:53 am (UTC)

[It's an incredibly bold question, and it throws him.

Leon's startled enough that he himself looks away from the fire, wide eyes fixed onto Stahn almost immediately. But Stahn is as calm and serene as he's been this entire evening, and Leon...

Well, maybe he's overreacting, but isn't it a lot? Isn't Stahn saying quite a lot here, even without actually putting words to it? Isn't Stahn... well, they had just been talking about what he wanted to do with his life, but spending time in Darilsheid had never been part of the plan.

There is really only one reason that Stahn could want that. It's... for Leon solely, isn't it?

(And despite his shock, the warmth that comes of having someone plan something just for him... just to be by him... well, it's a sort of warmth he's never experienced before, isn't it?)]

You...

[He's still startled though, so much so that words don't come easily. How does he say that he would like nothing more than for Stahn to do just that? How does he say that that's given him so much hope for the end of the mission, and not being alone, and... getting more out of this, and not being lonely anymore? He can't say any of that, it's too much, it's far too raw and revealing.

But he wants it.]

...If your decisions on what to do with the future are that lackadaisical, then... do what you want.

[But somehow, Leon doubts that Stahn is truly being lackadaisical. He doubts this sudden switch was really that frivolously made. He thinks... for once he understands, and if Stahn is doing this, it's to be with Leon after the moment they had, and that... it warms him. It warms him more than anything he can think of, while at the same time being something he wants so badly that he can feel his heart ache with the sensation of it.

... But what about Hugo?

This seems perfect, somehow, but... Leon still can't rid himself of the foreboding chill that runs down his spine even so. Will this really be alright?]
