Because Judas still sucks at emotions.
But either way, he just nods vaguely in response to that.]
I see. [It's...the same for him, even if he doesn't think he really has the right to say so. After all... he didn't have to bear that missing piece for 18 years like Stahn did.]
Then that is...for the better.
no subject
[it's a quiet, honest statement. it's always for the better that he's here, and stahn is happy every single day when he wakes up and realizes that judas is part of their family now, where he belongs.]
no subject
So sappy.
And yet it warms him a lot even so... ugh. He's getting sentimental too.]
Should ever you change your mind on that, I'll be the first to remind you of this moment.
[He's mostly joking though.]
no subject
[no matter how many times he's been called an idiot, this is a situation where he won't concede to being one under any circumstances.]
no subject
... I know.
I am aware that...that is still a period of time that I have not completely grasped yet.
no subject
[he gives a bit of a nod.] Times like this, it feels like no time at all has passed.
no subject
[That it feels like no time has passed?]
no subject
[he acts his age a lot more now that there are so many kids to take care of, after all. he doesn't feel old, but he's not what he was at nineteen.]
Besides...it says something good about us as friends, doesn't it?
no subject
It does, and...he's glad for it.]
... I suppose it does.
[He's grateful for that. Their friendship... in a lot of ways, some things really never changed.]
Though I think that speaks more to the sort of person you are than me.
[Stahn had 18 years to change, and yet here they are.]
no subject
[stahn's not really sure he understands what judas means by that, honestly. stahn would imagine that their friendship was just one that had been very secure despite the time that had passed.
he doesn't really attribute himself to anything about that at all. they're just... friends.]
no subject
It means that even after 18 years... you are still you.
[Quite frankly...that's just how Judas sees it, and he's fine with that.
Stahn should always be Stahn.]
no subject
[stahn laughs a little... did judas think he would really change that much? stahn has a hard time imagining changing significantly, he doesn't think he has at all aside from getting older.]
no subject
Eighteen years is a long time.
[He's just saying...it could've happened.
But it didn't.]
no subject
[stahn is stahn, that's for sure.]
no subject
Stahn's so simple sometimes.
(It's nice to see that after everything, he's still Stahn.)]
So it would seem. Perhaps I was simply overthinking it.
no subject
That's right! I'm always just going to be me... so as long as you're you, some things will never change.
no subject
... Even so, I do believe I've changed a great deal.
[Recently, especially, but... kind of a lot in general.]
no subject
[and stahn doesn't mean that in a superficial way. he means at his core, he sees the person who was born emilio and still is emilio to this day, even though so much else has changed, including his identity.]
no subject
On the other hand, Stahn has already done more than enough reassuring on this trip already, and it's only just begun.]
... I see. I suppose it is only to be expected that... not everything will change. [Despite his best efforts.]
no subject
[because that runs deeper than just names or circumstances, the way stahn sees it.]
no subject
Judas is just going to be quiet in response for a moment before he finishes up his lunch portion and shakes his head.]
We should keep going.
[(he's embarrassed)]
no subject
[he knows why.]
We'll still make it to a good place to camp in time, we shouldn't push too hard. [not letting judas get away with this, apparently.]
no subject
[So there!!!!
(No, he's still just embarrassed.)]
Lingering doesn't help anyone.
no subject
[he's finishing up his food... and then flopping back onto the grass to look at some passing clouds.
fight him, judas.]
no subject
... Except he won't. Still, Judas does get up with a sigh, shaking his head. He isn't used to traveling at such a leisurely pace. As Leon, it was always missions--and then as Judas, it was even more pressing.
So this is hard.]
I'm going to take a look around then.
