[Character name] Mitsunari Ishida
[Age] …. It is a mystery. Can’t be older than mid-late 20’s, I swear.
[Canon] Brave 10
[Point in time taken from canon] Post Episode 12

[Background]

Here for the general series. Mitsunari is too obscure so here’s a brief background:

Mitsunari hates Ieyasu. Mitsunari wants Ieyasu to stop being dumb. Mitsunari insults Ieyasu a lot over tea. Sekigahara hasn’t happened yet which is good because otherwise he’d be lacking in a head. Mitsunari is building an army with which to oppose Ieyasu.

Yes pretty much. He's a minor character in an ongoing series, sorry. |D;;

[Personality]

Mitsunari Ishida of Brave 10 fame can be described in few words as a gossipy fabulous tea-drinker.

Most of the series he spends with soft-spoken gatherings, speaking with other daimyo over a cup of tea.

But of course, this is far from all there is to him. The fact is that Mitsunari is a shrewd customer, quick on the uptake, quick to read the undertones of politics and quick to make his own decisions based on those. It is Mitsunari who first warns Yukimura that a plot is afoot, and it is Mitsunari who visits Yukimura to set up what he knows he will need in the upcoming war that he knows is brewing. He’s sharp, unhesitantly making use of what he can to his advantage whenever he gets the chance—

But he’s also not a cold manipulator.

Mitsunari is extremely loyal—to his friends, to his cause, and to the dead Toyotomi and the remnants of his lord. It is talk of the Toyotomi that infuriates him most—because he will give and do anything to stop the Toyotomi from disappearing. It is clear that his most important thing continues to be the lord he served and the faction he now leads; that is, in fact, the main thing he is fighting for. He bemoans, in fact, the way that they can’t overturn the world in some sort of chaos, because at least in that way the Toyotomi would have a great chance of survival. Yukimura is quick to scold the nonsensical wish, but it’s clear that the Toyotomi are Mitsunari’s most emotional trigger point.

It isn’t difficult to get his loyalty either. Mitsunari is the friendly sort, easy to talk to and pleased to speak in turn. He doesn’t tend to mask things; when he’s pleased he smiles. When he isn’t, he glares.

(Around Ieyasu, he is often glaring, unsurprisingly, as Ieyasu is aiming to wipe out the Toyotomi and unite the country.)

But he performs the role that is expected of him for the time. In other words, when Ieyasu sends him an invitation to a gathering, he goes of course, despite the fact that he hates the man’s guts. That’s because he is expected to; to not go would be a political snub and he knows it. In other words, a great number of Mitsunari’s actions are logical before emotional; he’s attuned to what needs to be done far before what he wants to do.

Despite all of this, Mitsunari is generally kindhearted. He has a good sense of humor, laughing freely (usually at other people--), and is basically, well…chatty. As said before, he’s soft-spoken as well; he’s a gentle person, and it’s clear that he really doesn’t want war. He speaks of Ieyasu “pushing him into a corner”, forcing him into a fight. He would rather anything but—but when it comes to the Toyotomi being wiped out, Mitsunari sacrifices his peaceful nature in order to defend the Toyotomi, which he is loyal to even over his own nature.

[Abilities]

PRESUMABLY HE HAS THEM but we never get to see him use them. All of the lords are competent (some of which are especially competent (except for Ieyasu who is not competent at all)) in some way. Mitsunari…mostly sits around and drinks tea, but he is undoubtedly still a samurai.

His first resort is always to not fight though, unless the Toyotomi is the matter at hand.

I’ll let you know when more information comes out i.e. when the sequel comes out.

Other than physical, he’s a smart guy, rather charming and good at reading the situation. ...Otherwise there's really nothing. In a series of superhuman feats he's really, really normal, whoops.

[First Person]

Good heavens, this is something else.

[It’s a pleasant face and a quietly exclamation from the orange-haired man on the SFC, prodding at it curiously.]

I have been told this functions much as a messenger, but an instant one. I cannot imagine how it functions if it is functioning… but it is good to hear that this was not the work of a dirty tanuki.

[A sunny smile, as if he certainly had not just insulted someone.]

But my, my manners have run away from me. Greetings, everyone. I am known as Ishida Mitsunari.

[He pauses.

His smile twitches into a less amused expression.]

If you are there, Kanetsugu, I expect you to respond quickly. This is complicated enough without your lack of presence.

[Third Person]

To Mitsunari, after adjusting some, Somarium was two things.

It was a break; it was a fascinating thing, it was peaceful, it was filled to the brim with people who did not have a political agenda, who did not have the intention to trap him with his very words.

On the other hand, the Toyotomi were not here, and he would not be able to protect them here.

He hated that.

He was failing his duty in simply being here, in other words; while it was not his fault, it did lead him to sitting along the edge of the fountain he had first arrived in (drenched and rather upset, admittedly). Pondering, pondering, pondering.

It wasn’t doing him much good, but it wasn’t like Yukimura or Kanetsugu were there to assist him…

(Or to speak with him at least. How frustrating…!)

With a sigh, Mitsunari glanced up at the sky. So similar…and yet so different from home. Occasionally he thought to work harder towards finding a way home--and yet, he was spending all of his time (when not socializing) trying to do so. (Socializing was doing so as well, he justified to himself, because some certainly knew more than he did about this world). He was far from giving up; he would never, ever give up on the Toyotomi (even though occasionally this world threw things at him that were just a little bit distracting, he still never forgot...!).

But. Well.

It was peaceful here. He could sit, for just a moment, without something going to hell. (But the Toyotomi were not here; in a way, things already had gone to hell for him, just in much less a blaze than he'd expected).

Running away wasn't an option. He'd known that from the start. Even in this world so very far away, he was pinned in the corner by Ieyasu. It occurred to him perhaps that he could get help from some of the others here, build a greater alliance than he had already had, be productive and finally once and for all defeat what plagued his people...!

Even as the peaceful sway of trees and demented scarecrows (Mitsunari teasingly tended towards calling them Kanetsugu only because the other man wasn't around to be offended) reminded him that he was much, much too far away to be able to do anything at all.

So he would allow himself to mope just a little bit longer. After all, nobody was there to see him do it, so it wasn’t like it would hurt at all.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I DON’T…KNOW…I want to play him and I miss Somarium yeah. Also I think he’d fit well in the setting, since he has a natural inclination to, well, talk to people.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] What did I say last time, playercest or something--
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] HAHA I DON’T REMEMBER.
