Character Info
◎ Character's Name: Tana
◎ Character's Canon: Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
◎ Character's Age: 16/17ish
◎ Canon Point: Post-chapter 21, right after defeating the demon king
◎ Background/History: Tana plus game info. For the record, I'll be taking her from Eirika's path.
◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? Nope to both!
◎ Personality:
Tana is a princess--and you would not know it from looking at her. She's been pampered all of her life, kept sheltered and safe from the world, and at first opportunity, she busted out of her castle and went chasing after her friend in the middle of a war.
Basically, Tana is painfully naive--but there's nothing she wants more than to become more worldly, to be treated as an equal to her older brother, and to be respected for the young woman she is, and the abilities she has obtained. She has worked very hard to be a pegasus knight, when it would have been all too easy to remain the pampered young princess. But that isn't the life she wants, and every suggestion that she should return to safety is met with bristling and frustration.
She doesn't expect people to allow her to come along with the army solely because she's a princess. She simply wants people to recognize her own merits as they are, and she is eager to prove that she is not a burden in the least. This is especially true when it comes to her relationship with her older brother, Innes. Innes is someone who she both respects and is infuriated by; he's cold to her, often, though that's how he shows that he cares, and while she knows that, she hates that he often dismisses her attempts before she can even prove that she's got it covered. For this reason, often a lot of her motivation is to show her brother just how good she's gotten.
"Did you see me out on the battlefield, Innes? I knew I made the right decision, coming out here. I feel like our strategy is becoming much better, as is our fighting. You do agree, don't you, Innes?"
Of course, her other reason for fighting is for her friends. It's just as shounen as it sounds--Tana jumps right into the thick of things in order to help her friends, she wins people over to their side by the power of friendship speeches, and she goes out of her way to make friends with the coldest people in the army. She is not frightened off by social awkwardness or uncertainty or even outright insults. There is nothing Tana wants more than to get to know everyone she can, and she doesn't see why things like social class or the like should get in the way of that. In a way, Tana is just as naive as everyone says she is, thinking that they should be able to save everyone even in the midst of a war, and trying so very hard to befriend everyone she can.
Most people are focusing on fighting and surviving, Tana, not making friends.
But nonetheless, she makes friends with mercenaries and traitors, solely because she wants to be their friend. And while she doesn't find social class to be important in determining the worth of a person, she isn't the sort of princess who throws away her rank either. Her status as a Frelian princess is important to her, because her country is important to her. She would never toss that part of her away...but she also would never consider herself more important because of it...to the despair of some of the people in the army trying so hard to keep her from harm.
This all aside, Tana tends to be rather perceptive when she tries to be, understanding people and how they tick through a natural intuitive understanding of what's important to them. That is how she works Cormag around to their side, and likewise how she understands her brother despite his harsh words. That said, she can also be painfully childish when she doesn't get her way, often responding to negative responses with short, tantrum-like responses, before stomping away in a huff. Her immaturity can often show, just as her maturity can shine at the most surprising of moments.
Truthfully, she is a young woman trying very hard to grow up and mature into a person that is trusted for more than her rank. She doesn't want to hide from the realities of the world or of warfare, but she still clings to her optimism and her naiveté. She understands people, and wants to understand everyone at the most human of levels, but even when she does, she can often act childishly when she doesn't get her way.
And more than anything, Tana wants to be acknowledged for her skills--by her brother and father foremost, but also by people such as Ephraim, who are people she grew up with and respects, but never obtained respect from in turn. She is tired of being treated like the younger sister, the childish young girl to be protected, and yet...well, sometimes that's the role she plays, being kidnapped and the damsel of distress not once but twice in the game due to her own foolishness and general rushing into things. And she always sees the best in people even if they don't deserve it, though often she can be surprisingly spot-on with her assumptions about people.
Of course, she can also be painfully rude in her naiveté. Whoops. While she's perfectly willing to listen to people and change her own world view with quite a bit of open-mindedness, her princess-bred beliefs can often be terribly biased and uncertain...such as her calling all mercenaries "renegades, cutthroats, and oath breakers". She tries very, very hard, of course; she's just still sometimes a little brat despite that.
But at least she won't ever give up. For better or for worse--sometimes more worse than better.
◎ Powers/Abilities:
Tana begins her life as a pegasus knight, which means that she's high in speed, magic resistance, and is fragile as a piece of wet tissue paper. She promoted into a falcon knight for the purposes of this "playthrough" of the game. Therefore, she's capable of using both lances and swords, and specializes, of course, in aerial combat, though she's no slouch on the ground either. Her main weapon is a lance, and will always be her first option in combat.
◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
- Vidofnir, the winged lance
- a killer lance
- a silver sword
- an elixer
- a Fili shield
ALSO her pegasus, Achaeus.
CEREALIA-Specific
◎ Element: Air, of course
◎ Sense: Sight -- it's both important to her as a flying unit, to be able to scout and perform reconnaissance, and a trait shared between the Frelia siblings: Innes is known for his far-sightedness, and Tana always feels overlooked.
◎ Seven Character Traits:
( + ) ( cheerful, kind, undaunted ) | ( - ) ( naive, rash, sheltered ) | ( +/- ) ( hard-headed )
Samples
◎ First-Person Sample:
[It's pretty clear from the way Tana holds the stupid device that she has no idea how she's even supposed to use this. But wow is she trying. She's trying so hard. Medieval canon life is hard... but at least she's grasping the concept.]
Excuse me, everyone! My name is Tana...Princess of Frelia. [It's said as factually as her name, and she's quick to move on, at least.] It seems as if there are many captives here. Ah, but do not worry!
[They weren't worrying, that seems like quite the assumption to make.]
I will protect you, so there is no need to fear anything our captors might have in store for us in the future! [She seems to believe it, either way...]
Oh...but if we truly are helping from the future in some way, that's good too... what to do.... [She hesitates, biting her lip thoughtfully, hesitating for a moment in her indecision.] ...Well! If that is the case, that's even better, surely. I have no complaints if it means we're helping people! ...Regardless, it's nice to meet you all, and I promise I shall do my best to keep everyone here safe!
[Even if nobody asked her to...she sure seems pleased.]
◎ Third-Person Sample: Already have Sousei (
deontology) in game!
◎ Is your character retaining any previous game memories? Nope!
