That's right! I'm always just going to be me... so as long as you're you, some things will never change.

[... Okay that might be a little too simple though.]

... Even so, I do believe I've changed a great deal.

You did. But.... you're still you. No matter much you've changed, I can still see the ways you're the same.

[and stahn doesn't mean that in a superficial way. he means at his core, he sees the person who was born emilio and still is emilio to this day, even though so much else has changed, including his identity.]

[... Is that supposed to be a good thing? He's really not sure. Judas is pretty sure that if he met his past self now, he'd hate him.

On the other hand, Stahn has already done more than enough reassuring on this trip already, and it's only just begun.]

... I see. I suppose it is only to be expected that... not everything will change. [Despite his best efforts.]

Of course not!　We're still us, right? Even if a lot of things change... we're still best friends. And the things that make us best friends won't change.

[because that runs deeper than just names or circumstances, the way stahn sees it.]

[Jeeze, Stahn!!! Nobody asked you to be this cute and sappy!!!

Judas is just going to be quiet in response for a moment before he finishes up his lunch portion and shakes his head.]

We should keep going.

[(he's embarrassed)]

Why are you in such a rush!

[he knows why.]

We'll still make it to a good place to camp in time, we shouldn't push too hard. [not letting judas get away with this, apparently.]

Even if we do have time, that does not mean that we should needlessly dilly-dally.

(No, he's still just embarrassed.)]

Lingering doesn't help anyone.

Still, we don't want to tire ourselves out too early, right?

[he's finishing up his food... and then flopping back onto the grass to look at some passing clouds.

[...... he'll fight him!!!

... Except he won't. Still, Judas does get up with a sigh, shaking his head. He isn't used to traveling at such a leisurely pace. As Leon, it was always missions--and then as Judas, it was even more pressing.

So this is hard.]

I'm going to take a look around then.

Don't go too far, there could still be monsters around.

[says stahn, lying in the grass without a care in the world. he could just demand judas chill, but he respects that space he probably wants. it's good to just take some time to soak in the sun and the fresh air anyway, stahn thinks. maybe it'll help judas relax a bit?]

[Judas just waves a hand at that--he won't. He knows better by now, even if he's been lone wolf enough to think he can probably handle it.

Still, he won't put Stahn through that stress.

So he's going to go ahead and just start on a circular loop of the area--nothing particularly distant, though out of Stahn's sight--and take a look around. He's not expecting to find anything, but at the very least, he can keep himself busy this way.]

[stahn will remain that way for a bit, but ... really, it's not as relaxing alone. judas isn't in his line of sight, and while he knows there's hardly any danger to it, he still...

well, he feels uneasy, like he'll somehow disappear this way.

so he'll push himself to his feet, seeking out judas.]

It's a good place to clear your head, isn't it?

Judas wasn't expecting him to join him so quickly, and he isn't aware that it's because he felt uneasy--so he just gives a vague, easy shrug in response.]

It is peaceful enough, yes. I have no issues with this place.

That's good.

[stahn breathes out a somewhat quiet sigh; it's definitely relieving to find judas still here, even if it's probably a ridiculous thing to worry about in the first place.]

I like to do this. To just... take in the air and clear my head.

[The sigh gets another quirk of Judas' brow; for some reason, Stahn sounds kind of relieved, but he doesn't really get why.

Nothing has happened to be concerned over.]

It... is admittedly a good activity. [He likes to do it too.] And out here, things are certainly more peaceful.

[Judas loves the orphanage too, but it's definitely not quiet. Ever.]

Mm... I guess the noise at home is probably a lot for you to get used to, huh?

[stahn's used to all the noise, but he knows for judas, it's a whole different situation.]

... It can be, on occasion.

[Judas knows he has to admit that one; it'd be silly to try to deny it when Stahn knows his entire history.]

But Kyle and the others... it is not as though they were anything but boisterous too. I've adapted, somewhat.

You've done well... but I know that you must have times when you want to be on your own. It's okay.

[stahn understands. he wouldn't stop judas from leaving to walk the town or go out somewhere on his own if he wanted that kind of space—much as he'd worry, he respects judas too much to restrict him.]

[... Admittedly, he can't deny that. He's quiet for a long moment, before he nods a little hesitantly. To him... it feels like he's being ungrateful to admit that he might need some of that alone time. Stahn and the others took him in out of the goodness of their hearts. He doesn't want to snub that at all.]

Admittedly, I... suppose at times, perhaps...

But it is not especially pressing. I am fine with the current arrangement as well.

[his tone is bright, yet still a bit soft somehow—he's definitely understanding of the situation.]

...It's why I think times like this are nice. So it's okay, Emilio... if you need times like that too.

[He won't need as much as he did when he was Leon, in other words.

[stahn knows it, and that's why he can stretch his arms out casually over his head.]

Sometimes an afternoon is all you need. The area around Cresta is nice, even if there's no shoreline like there used to be.

Mm. I suppose that is what I will do on occasion, then.

[Go spend some time by himself on the outskirts of Cresta--he's not worried for his own safety, so this seems fine to him.]

Regardless, shall we continue?

Mm... it was a good break. It felt good to clear my head and enjoy the weather for a few minutes, but we still have a lot to do.

[this is fine. he feels settled this way, with judas at his side.]
