[It's really not uncommon at all for him to be tossed into a jail cell. It's part of the job hazard--of being a thief, that is.

If they don't try to cut off his hand, he'll be fine. If they do, he'll make a quick and hasty exit.

Simple.

So he's brushing himself off after having been rudely shoved on in there, but he recognizes pretty quickly that he's not alone in this cell.

Still, he doesn't speak until he's brushed off every speck of imaginary dust off, and then he crosses his arms behind his head and comments lazily without even looking--]

I wasn't expecting to have such nice company when I was thrown in here.

Fine by me.

[ because the next minute, the roof is caving in, without so much of a warning and succeeded by an inquisitive whale-like bellow from above. ]

... How are you with heights?

[ yep, she's still calm. ]

[redcloakedthief]

[........flying whales......

That is not what he was expecting, but he's just...staring up at the roof that has now caved in and. Blinking.

Ah...]

Better with heights than cells...

[which is saying something since he seemed pretty at ease in the cell.]

Is that a friend of yours?

[brbwalking]

Family would be a little more fitting.

[ but she extends her hand.

... Without explanation. ]

[...you're related to flying whales

okay sure

just going to take that hand, arching an eyebrow.

okay, he can do the quiet mysterious thing--]

[ oh, good.

Because Judith is pulling him closer and once, they were in a cell, but now

they're in the air, above a dragon

and now landing. ]

Thank you, Ba'ul. I'm sorry I kept you waiting, but we've got a guest.

[dragons are actually much more familiar.

It's a little distressing because dragons are also Bad, but.

HE DOESN'T HAVE MUCH OF A CHOICE NOW.

So he's just going to sit on this dragon's back and take some deep breaths and. Focus. On. Breathing.]

....Quite the--family you've got here.

[ Ba'ul, at least, is being considerate about getting away from there at a leisurely flying pace. ]

It's true that most people can't claim to have such an interesting member. But we've been together a long time.

[well, that is nice and considerate, and he'd probably appreciate it more if he were more aware of it.

Maybe.

He's kind of fickle that way. But he relaxes slowly and sighs, peering down at the town that had thrown them both in jail.]

I can tell. Family that busts each other out of jail is family you can trust.

[it gets an amused smile out of him, at least.]

I didn't think we'd have company, though. Do you have a name?

You can call me Matthew.

[And he glances at her, quirking an eyebrow]

Can I have the name of my creative cellmate?

[brbwalking]

Judith.

[ nice and simple. ] My friend here is Ba'ul; he's even more creative than I am, most days.

[ and you might not know if she's joking or not. ]

[He's going to go with what's safe and...assume she's not....]

That I could believe. I certainly wasn't expecting a rescue quite like this, but I won't complain!

So, is it taboo to ask what you were in for, this time around?

[brbwalking]

I punched someone who didn't like it.

[redcloakedthief]

[yeah, he's laughing at that.]

I can see that from you without much difficulty, yeah. Somehow.

Only newly met and already you've gotten to know me so well! I must be losing my mysterious air faster than I thought.

I like to think I'm a fast study.

But don't worry, you're still rather mysterious.

That's one small relief for the day.

[ but she's smiling. ] And what did you do, or should I guess?

[he chuckles at that, shaking his head.]

I'm not sure I'd want to hear what you would come up with.

I have sticky fingers, let's just say.

I hear that's a common symptom among prisoners. That's a shame.

[he just smiles and shrugs.]

Terribly common, and all.

I wouldn't say the crime makes you common.

Oh?

Common crime doesn't make for a petty thief?

[brbwalking]

It would be incredibly close-minded of me to call someone petty just for that.

[...and he pauses, and then shrugs, throwing his hands behind the back of his head as he stretches.]

Then you would be one of the first, that's for sure. Interesting, though.

I'd have to call it a pity if you've only met someone like that now.

[ it's her turn to stretch, perfectly at ease where she is. ]
