[Magoichi has missed a coffee date. Well. Not a date. But. A coffee meeting. They have these so often that it comes as a genuine surprise that she misses; if anything, she has always been reliable.
So after work, Mitsunari swings by her apartment, already beginning to frown at the waste of time this is.
He finds a plethora of concerned harem, and learns from them that she has apparently hurt herself and thus they need to stand around the kitchen like headless chicken and help nobody.
He snaps and kicks them all out with a vicious 'Then I will deal with her!'
...
...though now that he's alone he is wondering a little bit what he was thinking.
SIGH. Walking over to her bedroom to see what he's dealing with now.
Magoichi had wanted to get up and break it up. She had honestly tried once or twice, but after just trying to move caused her vision to swim she decided against it. Still, however, she has her pride, so she wiggled herself into a semi-seated position. For Mitsunari she at least meant to put on a non-chalant mask. ]
[ At the question she has to try hard not to sigh. Magoichi is tired. She is tired, in pain, and not at all happy with the situation at hand herself. Yet she knows Mitsunari well enough at this point to know he will not relent until he is satisfied in some manner. ]
However, she had been in bed for days (two, to be exact; just enough for the plural) now, and her patience was at its limit. Which was why she could not be found in bed.
Or even her apartment.
So the stairs were rather a hard treck. Magoichi is nothing, however, if not stubborn.
In any case, it was worth it. It was worth this. She has collapsed into the chair she leaves on the roof, but she is doing so with warm sunshine on her face, and the feel of the breeze against her skin.
Like pigeons in a park, the crows have noticed she is there. Some, the older ones, stay a few feet from her, requiring her to toss bits of meat out from her position for them to eat. The younger ones, having lived their entire short lives knowing her, the woman who brings them such treats, are not near as shy. They crowd around her, one even sitting on her knee and allowing her to stroke its wings as it inhales its meal. Its talons dig through her jeans, but she cannot mind.
Here, with her strange entourage, she feels peaceful. ]
The crows start in a flurry of feathers and cawing, several leaving the roof all together and the rest turning black eyes on Mitsunari, shifting warily. ]
Feeding the birds.
[ She offers another tidbit to the one now digging its talons painfully into her knee to try and soothe it. ]
And while he managed to consolidate control of the country with the death of Ieyasu, holding control proved to require an iron grip. And so there were more battles, more times to take up his sword.
And so he did--but with one like him, it only took one misstep for the battle to become fatal.
He doesn't avoid the sword in time, and it's a solid hit--solid enough that it cuts through his side where the armor meets and is weaker, eventually hitting rib and lodging there. He chokes and coughs and doesn't even manage to kill the one who has dared to strike him--he's just falling too quickly, this time.]
[ He does not kill the man, but a bullet does. Magoichi turned too late, too late to stop the blade from meeting flesh --
She is cussing as she makes her way through the madness, dropping to one knee by Mitsunari's side and clearing the area around him with the angry tak-tak-tak of her machine gun. ]
Mitsunari!
[ It is a call to gauge his response, see how with it he is. For of course he cannot be dying; she will not let him. ]
[At first he attempts to catch himself--but his arms are weak and it doesn't take long for his face to meet the ground.
He doesn't register the voice at first, or his name, either.
All he can do is focus on breathing, but even that is getting more difficult as he slowly twists to be able to lie on his side, grimacing at the weapon buried in his other.
Ah...that's problematic.
...it takes him that long to realize that there is someone else there, keeping the area clear, and that is why he is not dead (yet, a treacherous part of his mind states, but no no no he hasn't earned the right to die yet).]
Mago--
[But talking is too much, too difficult, especially after moving; he chokes on his words and is left struggling again to breathe.]
[ She clears enough space that the Toyotomi foot soldiers can surround them, pushing the enemy line back and allowing them a safe space. Magoichi drops her gun and quickly puts her hands on Mitsunari, one on his hip and another on his shoulder, to keep him from moving as she inspects his wound.
[And, as per usual, he is very bad at following her orders, shifting slightly to try to look at her more properly, but recoiling at the pain and her firm grip, which keeps him in place.
H-huff.]
Do not o-order me--
[augh. He's distracted by the pain, glancing over to the weapon in his side and--
Is unusually calm, for him. Despite the pain, despite the situation, his brow just furrows slightly and--he sighs.]
[Mitsunari is efficient as he cuts through the battlefield, moving with deadly purpose, for he is very nearly there, he very nearly has Ieyasu's head--
Perhaps it is this rage that makes him less aware than usual. Perhaps.
But regardless, it takes an arrow to the thigh before he realizes that he should pay attention, because he is much too far away from his army now. He is too fast, always has been, but now it has crippled him--literally.
He kneels despite himself, trying to get up and staggering and so it is that his hand is planted on the ground at his side when the cavalryman stabs at him with a spear, the metal tip breaking through armor into his skin.]
Y-you--!
[But that's all he manages to choke out, fingers grasping weakly for his sword.]
[ Maogichi hears Mitsunari before she spots him. Luckily, she has a sniper's eyes; they narrow for half-a-second before a bullet goes through the spearman's head.
Then she is off at a run, drawing her pistols as she moves close range. A series of well-aimed shots clear the immediate area until she is all but standing above Mitsunari, keeping him in a circle of protection. ]
[He never does manage to grab his sword. The sheath he clings to with a death grip, but the sword is just outside of his grip as he crouches, kneels, really, and struggles to breathe.
It is the kneeling that is most jarring.
Mitsunari kneels to no one but his now-dead lords.
But after a moment he does look up, eyes narrowing in pain and some confusion.]
[ Magoichi snaps the words before barking orders to her men, moving the rifle line forward. The men pass them in slow, ordered steps, dropping to form a shield of bodies and firearms between their boss and the enemy line. ]
STUCK IN A BOX
but a moment later he is processing that he is indeed stuck in a box.
And there is someone else here.
Unfortunately he doesn't process that last bit until he puts a hand down to steady himself and there is a person there instead of floor. Oops.]
no subject
[ Shove.
...what the hell is going on? ]
no subject
[OW. Shoved back against the back of the box!]
What do you think you are doing?!
no subject
[ Wait. ]
Mitsunari?
no subject
...Magoichi.
Why are you in a box.

You already know the answer to that, Mitsunari.

He is very upset by this indeed, and his expression and tone reflect that in his anger.]
