[And then he is not where he is supposed to be.
Mitsunari totters for a moment, off-kilter, blinking around him in a befuddled way. Last he remembered he had just received that dratted letter from Ieyasu's men--
But no, now he...
He was in a camp...?
...This was going to be very bad, wasn't it?]

[Mitsunari is minding his own business like usually.
Just.
Simmering in anger about Yukimura's bold need to join so that he can kill Ieyasu and such.
So he stormed off, leaving Yoshitsugu to deal with it.
For all people do is use him for their own ends. All people do is use him to get to Ieyasu. Ieyasu Ieyasu Ieyasu--
He is sick of it. And so he slams a clenched fist into a tree, pausing and narrowing his eyes at the ground.]

[Yep. She was definitely lost.
This wasn't exactly a rare thing for March; she traveled so often that she had to occasionally get lost. It was just a fact of life.
But she always managed to get herself unlost. The fog seemed to be trying to confound her here, though; she had definitely never seen a place like this.
But March just sighs, slowly lowering her hood as she looks up at the sky.]
The moon will be shadowed tonight, hm...?
[That was a shame. The moon was her constant companion.
But she didn't seem too bothered--there was still a bit of a smile on her lips as she looked up at the sky.]

[Receiving a note from Kojuro was a little unexpected, but Minato had no qualms with going to meet with the older samurai; he'd enjoyed his company every time they'd spent time together, and getting to spend more time with him was hardly a chore.
And so Minato made his way over to see him, hands tucked into his pockets and expression calm and relaxed, despite the chaos they had survived. The kraken was quiet now, the banjo attempts having some effect on him by now.
When he reached the meeting place, he glanced around, looking for the older samurai.]

[He was a broken man. Now, now that he had lost everything, he had nothing left to live for. Nothing, nothing, nothing, that much he knew as tears slid down his cheeks, messily smearing inelegantly.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Noth--
And then he was somewhere else entirely.
Mitsunari blinked despite himself. Blinked. Stared. And looked around himself blankly.
He had never seen the inside of a train before.
And he quite firmly, flopped on a seat, still a mess of emotions and broken shards, didn't know what was going on.]

[There was a number of things Mitsunari didn't understand and didn't feel the need to understand. There was Gyobu's fascination with the stars, for one, and the pirate's bizarre fascination with friendship that did not quite fit into his perception of loyalty. There was the way people flocked to Ieyasu--did they not see his lies for themselves?--and...
There were things that he didn't understand and decided it might be worth figuring out.
It took him some time to come to that conclusion in regards to Magoichi, his ally.
She was steadfast most of the time; it made it very easy to just accept her presence and move on.
And then she reacted oddly. And that was strange enough for him to feel the need, perhaps for once, to investigate.
Just this once.]

[He'd never hesitate.
Not when it came to fighting for the Toyotomi. Not when it came to something as sacred as that. Mitsunari is fast and skilled--but he is not perfect. Surely it was only a matter of time before...he messed up.
And that was all it took. A moment's misstep, a moment's unbalance, but that was more than enough in the thick of a battle like this.
He was struck over the head, tumbling to the ground like a puppet with cut strings, sword skittering away on the dead and beaten ground. But thankfully--this was not where his story ended. Part luck and part protection on the part of the Toyotomi meant that he did not die on that battlefield. But injured he was, and he did not wake up even as the battle drew to a close and he was carried off the battlefield, under the care of the Toyotomi that he served so faithfully.
So with that care, it was really only a matter of time that he would wake up again, head bandaged and taken care of.
But when he opens his eyes, he doesn't move, merely blinking at the ceiling for a long moment--his actions are strangely muted for him, but perhaps he is simply still...not quite conscious?
Perhaps. Or perhaps it is something else entirely.]

[He's pacing. He's pacing because his nerves are taut and he is stressed and part of him can't believe this is even happening--
Why is this happening.
Why did he agree to this, anyway?
Pacing. Pacing back and forth, hands tucked in his pockets and not doing anything particularly productive, but hey. So long as he's keeping himself busy, he's okay.
...Or so goes the thought-process but he's still pretty scattered already. Things haven't even gotten started yet.]

[HOW DID THIS HAPPEN.
HE DOES NOT KNOW.
he got saddled with this peasant to begin with and then there was a box and he reached in to see what was in it and--
And now their fingers are stuck together. With some sort of colorful trap.

[It's strange.
The last thing he remembers is faltering for a moment. That split second was all it took, of course; Ieyasu did not falter and Ieyasu did not miss.
And Mitsunari wonders what happened in all of this. This wasn't how it was supposed to end. Would this sort of ending...would it disappoint Hideyoshi-sama...? He'd fought so very, very hard, only for the end to come to this--
And then he doesn't wonder anything at all.
Not until he opens his eyes and ponders how very strange this is. He remembers dying very starkly, and yet here he is. It's quiet, he notes, about the same time that he notes that his sword is very much absent.
It should not be absent. It should not be quiet. And he should not be alive.
But as he absently clenches a fist and looks up, he wonders if he really is alive at this point. The sky is blue; the ground beneath his feet is grassy and untouched. And--
And turns sharply as he realizes that there's someone else there.]
